 Проект, который выделился из CyanogenMod и призван заменить проприетарную версию Android на устройствах, утративших возможность официального обновления, на бесплатную альтернативу. Исходный код LineageOS открыт и основан на Android, а предустановленные сервисы Google отсутствуют.
♦ LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
♦ LineageOS is the most popular custom ROM around, and for good reason. It has extended the life of many phones and tablets that would have otherwise been abandoned, and even for phones still receiving software updates from the original manufacturer, Lineage can sometimes work better than the stock software.
